Accessibility in the City of Milton
Our Mission
Incorporated on Dec. 1, 2006, the City of Milton is a distinctive community that embraces small town life and heritage while preserving and enhancing the city's rural character. The City of Milton is committed to maintaining a unique quality of life while efficiently delivering essential services to residents and businesses in an interactive community environment.

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (as amended in 2008) prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. For the City of Milton, the quality of life, efficient services, and an interactive community environment extend to all our citizens, including persons with disabilities and their families. It is our intent that all persons be able to participate fully in the life of the community.
The City of Milton strives to provide barrier-free accessibility for persons with disabilities in its:

MDAC: Who we are
Our Mission Statement: The mission of the Milton Disability Awareness Committee is to promote the inclusion of persons of all abilities in every aspect of community life through education, advocacy, and influence on public policy.
The Milton Disability Awareness Committee (MDAC) first met on March 22, 2007 and was given its charge by City Council member Tina D'Aversa and (then Council member) Neal O'Brien. On April 26, 2007, the committee made an initial presentation to the City Council expressing the need for disability awareness, support, and programs. In addition they urged the city officials to be proactive through accessibility, universal design, opportunities, and inclusion.
MDAC continues to work on these goals with the strong support of the City of Milton City Council. Among other accomplishments, the committee has taken the lead in developing and distributing a training packet for merchants, training City of Milton employees, and identifying an ADA consultant, Marie Latta, to help the City accomplish its accessibility goals.
The committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month and will continue to have a proactive voice in the development of the City of Milton.
Serving Our Constituents
Upon request, the City of Milton will provide accommodations for people wishing to attend public meetings or do business at City Hall.
