Common Violations in Residential Districts

  1. Trash & DebrisTrash & Debris:
    Yards shall not contain trash and debris. All garbage shall be placed in containers that are in accordance with the Solid Waste Collection Ordinance.





  2. High Weeds & GrassHigh Weeds & Grass:
    Yards shall be free from weeds or plant growth in excess of ten inches with the exception of cultivated flowers and gardens.






  3. Outside StorageOutside Storage Associated With Residential Use or District:
    Storage is permitted in side and year yards only and must be screened from adjoining residential uses and from streets with an opaque fence or a vegetative screen.





  4. Outside StorageOutside Storage Not Associated With Residential Use or District:
    Any storage not normally associated with residential use shall be prohibited.






  5. Salvaged AutomobilesSalvaged Automobiles/Trucks:
    No inoperative or unlicensed motor vehicle shall be parked, kept or stored on any premises. No vehicle shall be in a state of major disassembly, disrepair or in the process of being stripped or dismantle.





  6. Parking on the GrassParking On The Grass:
    All vehicles must be parked on an all-weather surface (i.e. paved, concrete, gravel surfaces etc.) at all times.






  7. Residential StructuresResidential Structures:All parts of a residential structure (indoors and outdoors) shall be maintained in good repair, structurally sound and in a sanitary condition.






  8. Exterior Wood UnprotectedAll Exterior Wood Surfaces Protected:
    Exterior wood surfaces, other than decay-resistant woods, shall be protected from the elements and decay by painting or other protective covering or treatment.





  9. Vacant StructuresAll Vacant Structures Secured:
    All vacant structures not in danger of structural collapse must be secured from unauthorized entry.






  10. Accessory StructuresAll Accessory Structures Maintained:All accessory structures (i.e. detached garages, fences, walls etc.) shall be maintained structurally sound and in good repair.





  11. Building Permit RequiredBuilding Permit Required:
    A permit is required when a building or structure is constructed, enlarged, altered, repaired, moved or demolished.





  12. Specialized VehiclesSpecialized Vehicles:
    Recreational vehicles, campers, buses (including school buses), trailers, mobile home coaches, boats and boat trailers may be parked/stored in residential districts if the vehicle is not used as living quarters and the location of the vehicle is in the buildable area of the lot in the side or rear yards.


  13. Limitation on TrucksLimitation on Trucks:
    Trucks and/or trailers exceeding four tons empty weight shall not be stored or parked in any Agricultural or Residential zoning districts unless engaged in moving household goods or making deliveries.
